“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” - Winston Churchill.
One of Chrysalis' core beliefs is that our students benefit from
participating in service activities. This is why every international
trip we embark on has a service project incorporated into it. Why each
summer girls spend time volunteering with the trail dogs in Glacier
National Park. Chrysalis doesn't just believe in getting involved when
we travel, we also help girls reach out right here in Eureka.

Every Wednesday girls dedicate an hour and a half of their week to
participating in a service activity benefiting organizations in our
own backyard. Girls make treats for the animal shelter, play games at
our local retirement home, help clean up the church, organize
donations for a women's shelter, and many other great opportunities to
give back. This winter a handful of our ladies have taken on an
additional project during their service night. Working with our staff
seamstress, Renee, these hard-working young ladies are making a quilt
to donate to a family living in Eureka.
Sounds like an easy task? That's what our girls thought before
beginning the process! Since then they have learned the value of
patience, communication, team work and planning. Quilt-making, it turns
out, is both an exact science and an art. Requiring the confidence of
creativity and the focus to measure and work precisely, this endeavor
has taught the girls involved many valuable lessons.
The family who will soon receive the quilt is sponsored by the
local Episcopal Church. This young family will undoubtedly love and
benefit from the hard work of our ladies. We are so proud of the girls
involved for their willingness to help others and their commitment to
finish their goal.
Be sure to check back in. As soon as the quilt is done we will post a
photo of the beautiful quilt and it's beautiful creators!
